Theatre in 2019: Defying the impossible?

Uniting local, creative professionals from communities around the globe, Wild Dreamer Productions is on the crisp of taking on the international stage, performing at ASB Waterfront Theatre in Auckland (New Zealand) this long-weekend. But did MEERA really just do what everybody else thought would be impossible?…

Uniting local, creative professionals from communities around the globe, Wild Dreamer Productions is on the crisp of taking on the international stage, performing at ASB Waterfront Theatre in Auckland (New Zealand) this long-weekend. With dancers from Australia, performers from New Zealand, costumes from India, and influences from the far reaches of our planet, MEERA is set to transcend audiences in a rich cultural experience Auckland has never seen before. Introducing stage mapping technology for the first time at ASB Waterfront, blending stunning visuals to create scenes from the Royal Palace of Rajesthan to the galactic reaches of deep universe. Join MEERA as she travels trough the unpredictable twists and turns of life in pursuit of her one true love: Krishna.

Traditionally, the theatre industry has long been dominated by production titans with strong government ties and backing. Seeing new theatre companies start-up and take on the world has hence slowed dramatically over the last few years. This is why Wild Dreamer Productions is turning heads. Not only to start-up out of nowhere, but to be led by an ex-healthcare professional, Aarti Bajaj – with nothing but a bucket load of passion for the arts to bring her dream to life. After selling out the Gold Coast theatre in 2018 (Australia), Now in May 2019, Wild Dreamer Productions is now set to perform MEERA for the second time, this time on a much grander, international scale – combining creative teams across two countries to create a thriving and sustainable production company.

Wild Dreamer Productions is defying the impossible: connecting passionate individuals around the world and bringing their skills together into one performance…well sooner than anybody thought.

Wild Dreamer Productions is dying the impossible: connecting passionate individuals around the world and bringing their skills together into one performance on international stages – well sooner than anybody thought. By pushing the status quo and breaking down barriers holding the production team back, MEERA is a living and breathing example of the power of passionate collaboration, and what is possible when a group of highly driven and talented individuals plan to take on the world (of theatre). At Wild Dreamer Productions,  we have been pleasured to hear some of the stories of the team involved with the show throughout 2019, and whether it was how Rajesh Ranjith realised his passion for the performing arts after performing in MEERA 2018, and has since sold his financial planning business to enrol in full-time film school, or local NZ performers like Marianne Infante exploring her cultural roots in a theatrical role she has never come in contact with before. MEERA is FULL of young and old aspiring creative professionals, and there is no greater sight to behold than witnessing the entire cast perform on-stage to a theatre full of smiling faces. A sight that will be coming to ASB Waterfront Theatre this May 31, 2019.
